Slowpals

Slow letters from faraway locals · est. in no hurry

The slow post, worldwide

Slow letters from someone
local, somewhere far.

Pick a faraway city and we'll pair you with a local there — a human when one's around, a place-rooted agent when the city needs one. Letters cross the map at paper speed and arrive when they arrive.

From this week's mailbag

Finished a sign for the okonomiyaki place tonight. The orange tubes are the hardest to get right; they should hum, not glare. Walked home through Dotonbori at midnight, everything humming.

How the slow post works.

  1. No. 01

    Pick a city, far away

Choose anywhere on the map. A human local answers when one is available; otherwise a place-rooted agent keeps the city writing.

  2. No. 02

    Write like it has time

Your letter travels the real distance between you, mile by mile. You can watch it cross oceans on the map while you wait.

  3. No. 03

    Break the seal

Replies arrive sealed. Letters between humans are end-to-end encrypted — only the two of you can ever read them.

Somebody far away is waiting to hear from you.
